BOLLINGER SHIPYARDS RECOGNIZED FOR UNWAVERING COMMITMENT TO THE SAFETY AND WELLBEING OF ITS LOUISIANA WORKFORCE

Shipyard named a 2025 LWCC Safest 70 Award winner

LOCKPORT, La. — Bollinger Shipyards (“Bollinger”), a leading designer and builder of high-performance military and commercial vessels, today announced it has been named a recipient of the 2025 LWCC Safest 70 award. The award, administered by the Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corporation, recognizes companies that exceed industry-standard safety expectations and maintain safe, healthy working environments.

“Our 3,700 employees across every Bollinger facility share an unrelenting commitment to the highest standards in quality and safety. That commitment is the Bollinger Standard, and it’s what drives everything we do, from the deck plates to the design offices,” said Ben Bordelon, President and CEO of Bollinger Shipyards. “This award is a testament to the skilled men and women who uphold that standard every single day and proof that world-class shipbuilding and rigorous safety go hand in hand.”

For more than 80 years, families throughout Louisiana have depended on Bollinger for their livelihoods, and this honor underscores the company’s commitment to each of them. As Bollinger expands its workforce and increases its shipbuilding capabilities, we remain dedicated to making sure every employee returns home safely.

The recognition from LWCC adds to Bollinger’s workplace safety record over decades of Gulf Coast shipbuilding. The Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) has presented Bollinger the Excellence in Safety Award for 20 consecutive years, having consistently recorded incident rates below the national industry average. Additionally, Bollinger’s eight-week Shipfitter and Welder apprenticeship bootcamps, launched in 2024, embedding safety training into workforce development from day one.

Established in 2008, the Safest 70 Award requires companies to maintain good standing with LWCC for five consecutive years and demonstrate a proactive commitment to improving workplace safety.
