Naval Architect (Hybrid Opportunities Available)
Location: Metairie, LA
Job Overview: The Naval Architect will be responsible for vessel design development, structural design, and auxiliary systems design for various marine crafts such as patrol vessels, offshore supply vessels, tugs, and barges. The role demands excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as familiarity with industry regulations and standards.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
- Minimum of 18 months of experience in vessel design development, structural design, and auxiliary systems design.
- Familiarity with ABS, CFR, USCG, SOLAS, IMO, and other applicable regulations.
- Experience with AutoCAD, FEA, GHS, and Rhino software is desirable.
- Ability to balance schedules and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop designs for vessels, including structural and auxiliary systems.
- Ensure designs meet all relevant standards and regulations.
- Use software tools such as AutoCAD, FEA, GHS, and Rhino to create and analyze designs.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Lead and manage design projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources efficiently.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience with FEA, GHS, and Rhino software.
- Strong understanding of marine industry regulations and standards.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting.
