POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a dedicated Estimator III with at least 7 to 10 years of directly applicable estimating experience in a marine or offshore environment. The candidate will analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare material and labor estimates for products, projects or services.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of directly applicable estimating experience in a marine or offshore environment
- Bachelor of Science Degree preferred
SKILLS
- Accurately able to read and interpret provided drawings, specifications or other proposal or technical documents
- Contacts and gathers technical and cost information from vendors, suppliers, manufacturers and other sources
- Computer literate, with good spreadsheet and word processing skills
- Can work under schedule pressure and meet deadlines
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists
- Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, scheduling vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness
- Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions
- Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
- Prepares accurate estimates and reports and maintains a source of data file
- Gathers cost and technical quotations from vendors, suppliers and manufacturers
- Ensures supplier’s scope of supply coincides with contract or project requirements
- Maintains job estimate history files
- Updates history files as required for use in preparing future project estimates
- Prepares letters, memos, faxes and/or e-mails to suppliers to seek requests for information
- Works overtime as required to complete estimates in a timely fashion
- Prepares material and labor cost estimates from information provided or historical experience
- Contacts and gathers technical and cost information from vendors, suppliers, manufacturers and other sources
