POSITION OVERVIEW 

We are seeking a dedicated Structural Craft Superintendent with preferably at least 7 years shipbuilding or 5 years of continuous Company experience in a similar position. The candidate will be responsible for directing their workforce in the successful implementation of craft-specific activities as it relates to associated shipbuilding and/or repair functions.

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Minimum of 7 years shipbuilding or 5 years of continuous Company experience in a similar position preferred

SKILLS 

  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of Structural craft specific processes and techniques
  • Well-organized manager, with directly applicable experience in resource planning and scheduling
  • Works well with other production supervisors
  • Exhibits high energy levels and maintains a good attitude
  • Able to perform labor estimates and develop associated manpower schedules
  • Familiar with standard marine practice and general specifications for construction/repair

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Directs and coordinates related department activities
  • Develops, reviews, and maintains construction plans, schedules, budgets and other essential records
  • Can read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and other technical guidance documentation
  • Ensures material and labor resources necessary to accomplish tasks are readily available
  • Maintains work schedules; works overtime as needed to minimize project delay
  • Meets with other members of production management to coordinate department effort
  • Optimizes effort to produce a high-quality work product consistent with Company standards
  • Trains and motivates workforce to result in high levels of productivity
  • Addresses daily personnel, equipment and facility issues; develops viable solutions and remedial actions
  • Delegates work as required to maintain level workloads
  • Hires, discharges, promotes or transfers personnel
  • Enforces all Company policies, procedures, work practices and safety standards
