POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a dedicated Structural Craft Superintendent with preferably at least 7 years shipbuilding or 5 years of continuous Company experience in a similar position. The candidate will be responsible for directing their workforce in the successful implementation of craft-specific activities as it relates to associated shipbuilding and/or repair functions.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 7 years shipbuilding or 5 years of continuous Company experience in a similar position preferred
SKILLS
- Possesses in-depth knowledge of Structural craft specific processes and techniques
- Well-organized manager, with directly applicable experience in resource planning and scheduling
- Works well with other production supervisors
- Exhibits high energy levels and maintains a good attitude
- Able to perform labor estimates and develop associated manpower schedules
- Familiar with standard marine practice and general specifications for construction/repair
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs and coordinates related department activities
- Develops, reviews, and maintains construction plans, schedules, budgets and other essential records
- Can read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and other technical guidance documentation
- Ensures material and labor resources necessary to accomplish tasks are readily available
- Maintains work schedules; works overtime as needed to minimize project delay
- Meets with other members of production management to coordinate department effort
- Optimizes effort to produce a high-quality work product consistent with Company standards
- Trains and motivates workforce to result in high levels of productivity
- Addresses daily personnel, equipment and facility issues; develops viable solutions and remedial actions
- Delegates work as required to maintain level workloads
- Hires, discharges, promotes or transfers personnel
- Enforces all Company policies, procedures, work practices and safety standards
