POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a dedicated Short Arc (GMAW) Tack Welder with at least 3 months of tack welding experience. The candidate will provide necessary tools to a ship fitter and assist as directed to include tacking, grinding, or other assigned duties.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 3 months of tack welding experience
- Must pass a hands-on Short-Arc (GMAW) tacker T-joint test in the vertical and overhead positions with the vertical position tack welded with downhill progression
- Must be able to work in confined/enclosed spaces
- Must be able to work/climb in elevations greater than 5′
SKILLS
- Proficiency in Short-Arc (GMAW) tack welding techniques
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Weld structural metal components using the Short-Arc (GMAW) tack welding technique
- Follow blueprints, work orders, and oral instructions to complete welding tasks
- Ensure welds meet quality standards and specifications
- Enters and moves through manholes to reach and work in internally confined spaces
- Provides ship fitter with assistance whenever deemed necessary
- Provides fire watch duties
