BOLLINGER SHIPYARDS‘ FOURCHON FACILITY RETURNS TO FULL OPERATIONS FOLLOWING HURRICANE ZETA
LOCKPORT, La.,-- November 4, 2020 – Bollinger Shipyards LLC (“Bollinger”) today announced that its Port Fourchon facility has resumed normal, full operations following Hurricane Zeta’s landfall near Cocodrie, Louisiana as a Category 2 storm last week. After closing briefly for the storm and subsequent cleanup, the facility’s five dry docks were again full or reserved by October 31st.
“Each year presents its own unique challenges and 2020 has been no different,” said Bollinger President & C.E.O. Ben Bordelon. “I’m proud of our workforce for their dedication to getting our Fourchon facility back up and running safely so that we can continue delivering for our customers. The moment the roads were safe to travel, our team went in to assess damages and the moment we knew it was safe to start back up, we fired up the generators and went back to work for our customers and community so they can get back on the water and back to business.”
Bollinger’s 50-acre, full-service Fourchon facility is located in the heart of Port Fourchon, where the Lockport-based shipbuilder provides solutions for vessel operators, operating companies, service companies and oil and gas exploration groups.
Bordelon continued, “Despite the COVID-19 global pandemic and six named storms impacting the Gulf region, Bollinger Shipyards has continued to safely keep the lights on and the line moving. I truly believe our success is tied to our unrelenting commitment to safety and quality. Winning the Award for Excellence in Safety by the Shipbuilders Council of America for 15 consecutive years in a row is not just another plaque on the wall for us. It’s a symbol that gives all our employees and their loved ones at home, peace of mind and security knowing we’re one of the safest shipyards in America.”
