Project Engineer (Hybrid Schedule Available)
Location: Metairie, LA
Job Overview: A Project Engineer coordinates and schedules the engineering aspects of assigned projects across various engineering disciplines, including mechanical, piping, electrical, and naval architecture. Responsibilities include initializing, organizing, and monitoring engineering projects, developing and controlling deadlines, budgets, and technical activities on multiple projects. The role ensures vessel compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer specifications, and regulatory agency requirements. The Project Engineer will work closely with the Engineering Manager to direct the integration of project activities and technical products, providing technical support to business development, estimating, and on-site support teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule engineering tasks among various disciplines for assigned projects.
- Initialize, organize, and monitor engineering projects.
- Develop and control project deadlines, budgets, and technical activities.
- Oversee requirements analysis to ensure compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with the Engineering Manager to integrate project activities and technical products.
- Provide technical support to business development, estimating, and on-site support teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the project to customers, the Program Management Office, Production, Purchasing, Outside Design Agents, and Regulatory Authorities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing and developing marine projects such as tugs, barges, offshore supply vessels, and small craft.
- Ability to recognize and organize the capabilities of project team members into an effective and efficient team.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with USCG (CFR) and IMO statutory regulations (SOLAS, IBC) as well as classification requirements (ABS or DNV).
- Must be a U.S. National.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office products and computer-assisted engineering software.
- Working knowledge of project management software (MS Project) and change management principles is a plus.
