Purchasing/Material Control Coordinator (Remote Hybrid Opportunities Available)

A Purchasing/Material Control Coordinator coordinates activities involved with acquiring goods and services and is responsible for shipping administration.  Also assists the Purchasing Material Control Supervisor as needed.
Knowledge of purchasing and shipping functions. Knowledge of materials used in the construction/repair and sustainability of marine vessels.

Knowledge of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).

Responds to purchase requests for maintenance, repair, office supplies, and any other material for inventory or projects as well as assist in project purchasing.

Shipping administrator for all shipments leaving the facility (small parcel, LTL, and larger dedicated contract related shipments), including international shipments.

Handles most freight quotes for shipments.

Assists with all freight claims.

Facilitates and assists in all DLA/DCMA/SFLC inspections.

Creates purchase orders for hand written requisitions.

Auto-creates purchase order in CAPPS and Oracle.

Assists in training for purchasing material control functions as required.

Maintains manual or computerized procurement records.

Assists in resolving shipment quality/quantity discrepancies.

Facilitates inspections, substitutions and standardization by arranging and participating in conferences between suppliers and Company personnel.

Expedites material deliveries as required.

Responsible for reviewing and monitoring quality procedures in relation to the purchasing material control.

Communicates, coordinates and plans with necessary personnel from the pricing and warehouse departments.

Must follow all Company policies and procedures, including those relative to employee safety, environmental policy, and the principles of our quality system.

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience purchasing, shipping, or related field.
