BASIC FUNCTION:
A Logistics Program Manager monitors programs to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out per specified objectives. The role also involves coordinating and scheduling all aspects of assigned projects among various disciplines, including provisioning, technical manuals, training, and supply.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Experience (Years):
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of logistics experience in a shipbuilding or related field setting preferred.
Minimum Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor of Science in Business, Accounting, or Engineering preferred, or applicable PM/Logistics experience may be substituted.
- Outstanding leadership, motivation, and communication skills.
- Good human relations and management skills.
- Knowledge of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office).
- Capable of handling major contracts above $2 million.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Handle major commercial and/or government contracts, usually over $2 million.
- Manage programs that entail multi-vessel commercial/government contracts.
- Initiate programs from the ground up.
- Interface with customers and negotiate cost and schedule changes.
- Plan and develop methods and procedures for implementing programs; direct and coordinate program activities; and exercise control over personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of the program.
- Ensure that the aims, goals, or objectives for specified programs are accomplished per prescribed priorities, time limitations, and funding conditions.
- Confer with staff to explain the program, designate individual responsibilities for functions and phases of the program, and establish the scope of authority.
- Direct and coordinate activities related to implementing and achieving program objectives.
