Lockport , LA., Jan 26, 2008 - Bollinger
Marine Fabricators, L.L.C., a Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. company, has signed a
contract for the design and new construction of a 55,000 barrel (BBL) Oil
Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA’90) compliant tank barge, with Martin Midstream
Partners, LP. Contract terms and conditions were not disclosed
.
The announcement was made by Bollinger executive vice
president of new construction, Chris Bollinger. "Bollinger is pleased to
announce the signing of our first new construction OPA’90 tank barge project
with Martin. Martin has been a long time customer to Bollinger’s repair and
conversion group, and we are excited that Bollinger is Martin’s shipyard of
choice for this project,” said Bollinger.
The 55,000 BBL tank barge, M 6000, will be
built at Bollinger Marine Fabricators, L.L.C., in Amelia, Louisiana. The M 6000
will be a clean oil barge that is classed and certified ABS + A1 Oil Tank Barge,
Manned Ocean Services. The barge will measure 350-foot long, with a 70-foot beam
and a depth of 25-feet. The barge is being built to meet the requirements of
OPA’90, with ten (10) cargo compartments and two (2) separate pumping systems.
The barge will be outfitted with the Bludworth Cook Marine ATB Flexible
Connection System.
