LOCKPORT, LA, Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. has received awards for Excellence in Safety, Improvements in Safety, and Occupational Safety awards from two industry groups.

The Award for Excellence in Safety and the Award for Improvement in Safety for 2009 were presented to Bollinger by the Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA). The awards were received during the association's April 26-28, 2010 general membership meeting held in Washington, D.C. The Award for Excellence in Safety is given to member companies who have an end-of-year Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) that is below the average SCA rate. The Award for Improvement in Safety is given to member companies who have reduced their TRIR by ten percent or more.
Earlier in April, The National Safety Council, South Louisiana Chapter held their 59th Annual Clem Buckman Occupational and Fleet Safety Awards Banquet. At the banquet, Bollinger facilities were presented three separate awards for safety. The chapter's 2009 Award of Honor was presented to eleven (11) Bollinger facilities based on LTAR: Bollinger Algiers, LLC; Bollinger Calcasieu, LLC; Bollinger Fourchon, LLC; Bollinger Shipyards Lockport – Repair; Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. – Corporate; Bollinger Texas City, LP; Bollinger Larose, LLC; Bollinger Marine Fabricators, LLC; Bollinger Amelia Repair, LLC; Bollinger Lockport – New Construction; and Chand.
The 2009 Award of Merit was presented to two (2) Bollinger facilities based on LTAR: Bollinger Morgan City, LLC; and Bollinger Quick Repair, LLC.
The 2008-2009 Delta Safety Society Most Improved Award was presented to Bollinger Algiers, LLC.

Shipbuilders Council of America (http://www.shipbuilders.org/), (SCA) is the largest and most broadly-based national trade association representing the U.S. shipyard industry. SCA members build, repair and service America's fleet of commercial vessels. SCA members constitute the shipyard industrial base that maintains and repairs Navy combatant ships and other government craft, as well as builds small and midsized vessels for the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy and other government agencies.
