Lockport , LA., April 9, 2009 - Bollinger
Marine Fabricators, L.L.C., Amelia, LA, a Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. company,
has delivered B. No. 262, a double hull 60,000 BBL oil tank barge built to meet
the requirements of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA’90) to Bouchard Ocean
Services, Inc., Melville, NY. 
Barge B. No. 262 is a
manned ocean, clean oil tank barge measuring 350-foot long, with a 70-foot beam
and a depth of 25-feet. The barge is built to, and certified by American Bureau
of Shipping and United States Coast Guard to meet the requirements of OPA’90
with ten (10) cargo compartments and two (2) separate pumping systems. The barge
is equipped with two (2) Byron Jackson cargo pumps, driven by Detroit series 60
engines, and the deck is equipped with two (2) Techcrane model F10-50
electric-hydraulic cranes.
Morton S. Bouchard, III, President/CEO of Bouchard Affiliates (Bouchard
Transportation Co., Inc. / Bouchard Coastwise Management Corp. / Bouchard Ocean
Services, Inc.) said, "We are pleased to have taken delivery of the first of
three barges within the next 10 months that will conclude our double hull
construction business plan that was implemented in 1992. Bouchard will have
replaced its entire single hull fleet with flush deck double hull barges as
mandated with the enactment of OPA’90. Upon completion of this building phase
Bouchard will be pursuing other areas to improve and build the infrastructure of
our company.”
In addition to the B. No. 262, Bollinger is also building a sister ship, B.
No. 264, another 60,000 BBL clean oil barge scheduled for delivery in March 2010
from Bollinger Marine Fabricators, and B. No 284, an 80,000 BBL manned ocean,
clean oil barge measuring 399-feet long, with a 74-foot beam and a depth of
28-feet, scheduled to deliver from Bollinger Gretna in June 2009.
